Each year Gloria Dei is blessed to partner with numerous mission partners both locally and throughout the world. As a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we are a church that is deeply rooted and always being made new. Each year we connect with dedicated, caring mission partners that are important to our ever-changing neighborhoods and world, actively engaging in God’s mission. Throughout the year Gloria Dei has opportunities to get to know our partners better through “Sharing Sundays” with guest speakers, special congregational offerings and personal interaction and opportunities for outreach.
Kairos Prison Ministry
Through the work of over 30,000 volunteers, Kairos Prison Ministry brings the light, love and friendship of Jesus Christ into the lives of prisoners and their families. They learn they are forgiven, and they learn they are loved. It is truly a life changing, and often lifesaving experience. Spouses, parents and relatives of the incarcerated often “do time” right along with their loved ones. The Kairos Outside program exhibits “God’s grace and love” through Christian support for women who have been impacted by incarceration.
People Working Cooperatively
Each year PWC provides thousands of low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners with a higher quality of living. Professionally trained staffs, along with thousands of volunteers, help Ohio residents with critical home repairs, energy conservation and weatherization, mobility modifications, and maintenance services.
Sheltered Paws Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping save shelter dogs by placing them in loving forever homes or in temporary, loving foster homes to get them ready for adoption. SPDR focuses on moms and babies, long-time residents of the shelter, and dogs with special needs. They also often purchase for the shelter heartworm medicine that helps prevent euthanization of otherwise healthy dogs, and we also promote shelter dog health through buying things not in budget (like special healthy treats).
In cooperation with our sisters and brothers at Catholic Charities of Southwestern Ohio, Gloria Dei serves refugees who come to the United States through the U.S. Department of State. Most refugees come from extreme poverty, violence, discrimination, or religious and political persecution in their homelands; seeking a better life for themselves and their families.
ELCA Good Gifts God’s Global Barnyard
As members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we believe that God is calling us into the world – together. And with generous, loving hands, we can make a difference. ELCA Good Gifts go beyond your regular congregational offering to support the ministries of the ELCA. The gifts we purchase reflect God’s love, making a difference in people’s lives and around the world. The donations we collect and send support long-term, sustainable solutions that ensure that these “good gifts” last for more than a couple days or weeks. They keep on giving for years to come.
Interfaith Hospitality Network
The mission of the IHNGC is to provide homeless families emergency shelter and hospitality through interfaith communities and to work with families to find and retain stable housing. IHNGC has been providing emergency shelter since 1991, working side by side with partners from the faith community to meet basic needs while offering professional wraparound services that change lives. In addition to shelter, they provide a full suite of ongoing housing supports and programs that keep families safe, warm, and together. IHNGC helps moms, dad, kids, and their pets, exclusively serving current or previously homeless families. IHNGC keeps families together, while offering the tools and support they need to achieve lasting self-sufficiency.
